Maria Keen

Maria has 15+ years’ experience in the pensions industry providing support to a wide range of clients across various sectors. Maria also works with a range of advisers and is skilled at building and maintaining good working relationships with key stakeholders.

She is responsible for overseeing various projects, including closure to future accrual; actuarial valuations and wind ups; investment strategy changes; de-risking initiatives and more recently, GMP Equalisation buy-ins and member options exercises. Maria ensures a collaborative working relationship between advisers, employers and trustee boards, applying appropriate challenge to advisers to ensure that suitable, pragmatic solutions and value for money are delivered.

Maria has significant experience in Scheme Governance and challenges faced by Trustees, with expertise in acting as a sounding board for them on pension scheme matters, involving underpinning governance and latest developments in pensions. She has a keen eye for detail and a good knowledge of the challenges faced by Trustees and understands the requirements of good scheme governance, as well as the importance of keeping on top of the latest developments and regulations in pensions. She has also led internal teams to ensure compliance with new pensions legislation and regulations.

Maria is a fully accredited professional pensions trustee with the Association of Professional Pension Trustees, and is also member of the IGG Data Integrity Team, ensuring GDPR and cyber risks are managed.
