Michael has worked with a full range of companies from FTSE 100 to SME’s undertaking a wide range of different roles and managing specific projects including professional trustee appointments, including three Master Trusts, providing trustee secretariat services, trustee induction and training, executive pension benefits and auto enrolment. He was the first professional trustee to be accredited by the Pensions Management Institute.

Michael has spent much of his working career in the pension services sector where he has more than 30 years’ experience working in a variety of roles. These include leading a team of professional pension trustees after having previously worked at a major Third-Party pension administrator. Before this Michael gained experience working in consulting actuarial and insurance companies.

Michael is a regular speaker and Chair at conferences and seminars and keeps up to date with the constant pension industry developments by attending conferences and seminars as well as regularly visiting service providers.

  • Working in house for a FTSE100 company, leading on projects and management of outsourced administration services
  • Project managed the transfer of a DC section of a DB pension scheme to an authorised Master Trust
  • Review and running tender processes for trustee advisers, administration, investment consultant, legal adviser
  • Acting as Secretary to the Trustee for main boards, investment, finance and administration committees for both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes
  • Developing and maintaining business plans, risk registers, trustee protocols and other tools as part of wider scheme governance
  • Buy in for a £400m pension fund
  • Consultancy advice to asset manager of £350m fund
  • Author of articles to industry journals and blogs. Shortlisted in Mallowstreet awards, quoted in Financial Times, conference speaker and panel chair
  • Involvement with industry bodies including the Pensions Management Institute and the Association of Professional Pension Trustees
