Dan has over 10 years’ experience of the pension industry, including working as a specialist employer covenant adviser. This knowledge enables him to provide independent support on all matters relating to employer covenant, which is at the heart of determining schemes’ funding and investment strategies. He is also experienced in coaching lay trustees on employer covenant issues.

His Trustee portfolio includes a number of DB schemes, a DC Master Trust and two schemes going through the PPF assessment process.

Dan was previously a Senior Manager in PwC’s Employer Covenant & Restructuring team, working with schemes to provide expert advice on all matters ranging from triennial valuations to covenant monitoring frameworks, Integrated Risk Management, Merger & Acquisition transactions, and scheme sponsors in financial distress. As a result, he has significant experience of the level of work that is required and can provide independent challenge on the scope of work and fees.

Dan’s approach is to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve results which work for all parties. He has also completed a secondment to The Pensions Regulator (TPR), during which time he worked on more than 50 funding cases and use this experience to provide insights into how TPR is likely to approach different situations.

“Dan always strikes the balance between thoughtful opinion and getting the key points across. He comes across well in meetings and is not afraid to stand his ground on important points.”
